“Fliter plays with such grace and heartfelt sincerity... by whatever magical means, [she] touches the heart.” Gramophone
Ingrid Fliter has established a reputation as one of the pre-eminent interpreters of Chopin. A graceful and charismatic performer, Fliter is well-known for her thoughtful and sensitive music-making and effortless technique.

Born in Buenos Aires, Ingrid Fliter began her piano studies in Argentina with Elizabeth Westerkamp and after moving to Europe, she continued her studies with Vitaly Margulis at the Musik Hochschule in Freiburg, in Rome with Carlo Bruno and in Imola, at the Academy ‘Incontri col Maestro’ with Franco Scala and Boris Petrushansky. She also worked with and been mentored by Zoltan Kocsis, Louis Lortie, Alexander Lonquich and Alfred Brendel.

In addition to Fliter’s recording of Chopin’s Preludes, Fliter recorded the Chopin Piano Concerti with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Jun Märkl and the disc attracted extensive critical acclaim. Prior to this her two all-Chopin albums on EMI Classics received five-star reviews. Her most recent recording features the first Mendelssohn and Schumann concertos with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and she records the complete Chopin Nocturnes in November 2018, both for Linn Records.

Fliter’s engagements includes performances at Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Hungarian National Philharmonic, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. In North America, she has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and Naples Philharmonic. She has worked with conductors including Zoltan Kocsis, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, Hans Graf, Giancarlo Guerrero, Jun Märkl, Asher Fisch, Ilan Volkov and Alexandre Bloch. Fliter has performed recitals in London at the Southbank Centre’s International Piano Series, in Stockholm, and in Lisbon.

Winner of the Silver Medal in the 2000 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Ingrid Fliter was awarded the 2006 Gilmore Artist Award, one of only a handful of pianists to have received this honour.

Reviews
The Telegraph

“(…) You can hear from her playing not only that she adores the music but also that she appreciates the characteristics, the sentiments, the ideas that Chopin was distilling in these jewel-like creations.”

The Telegraph

“Ingrid Fliter was born to play Chopin with power and passion and is completely at one with the music's demands of agility, vim and vigour. (…) Her playing flows artlessly, with pliability and shading that stem from deep within the expressive requirements of the music rather than from any artificially imposed interpretative ideas. Her lyricism is exquisite, her piano tone luminous.”

Gramophone

“Fliter plays with such grace and heartfelt sincerity”

The Art Desk

“Era bastante paradójico cómo su pulso parecía estar cargado de gravedad y al mismo tiempo estar lleno de aire, y su sonido resultar transparente y a la vez colorido. Evocó las junglas vocales de un coro polifónico y después las redujo a un susurro de orfebrería. A menudo las dos cosas se encontraron. El cambio rápido, la acción de la curva exponencial, el látigo de la cola de un escorpión, yacen en el corazón de su creación musical ".
